WHC Safeguarding Vision To Provide A: Safe Place, Safe Space and Safe People
Our calling and duties as followers of Christ are to love. Our commitment to love God and to love people is a constant theme throughout the biblical narrative to which each subsequent generation is called to join in. Our love for people especially the vulnerable, needy and oppressed is expressed through the prophets and the psalmists:
Isaiah reminds us to “Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.” (Isaiah 1:17 NLT), and the Psalmist exclaims “Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.” (Psalm 82:3).
Our commitment to safeguarding those who are at most at risk is motivated by our sincere conviction of loving and caring for people who we believe are made in the image of God. Therefore we must continue to exhibit God’s call in how we love, safeguard and care for those who are vulnerable, in need and marginalised.
